  About The School

Sri Sivananda Balalaya a was started in 1997 by an all women group, Swami Sivananda Vidya Samiti. Three of whom have a very rich experience in the field of education are Ms.K.G.Meenakshi, Ms.Dr.R.Indra and Dr.G.Sundari, the founder members. To them it is a journey of exploration to find an alternative to the burdensome, stressful, examination-oriented system of school education which makes the whole process of education anti-learner.

This new age educational philosophy is slowly getting encouragement and support of the right thinking people. We are perhaps one of the very few schools practicing what is being preached by educational experts.

  Our Academic Pattern

Though tuned to the requirements of the exam of CBSE , it is highly innovative in design, classroom management and procedures and assessment. It gives importance to learning through activities, creative work and the art of learning.

  • Intends to provide an alternative to the existing pressure - ridden system of education.
  • Provides a child-friendly, learner-centered, relevant system.
  • Learning not mainly through text books, but through activities, free interaction in the class room, field trips etc.
  • Classroom atmosphere extremely conducive to learner participation.
  • Trains the children to become responsible, autonomous learners even from class III.
  • Makes learning experiential rather than text book based – gives the children opportunities for first hand experience through field trips, interactive sessions with District Collector, Police Officials, Corporation Commissioner and others.
  • Teaching – learning techniques redesigned to make the learner a participant rather than passive receiver of knowledge.
  • Teaching of Maths given a few focus in order to give the learner better understanding of the mathematical concepts and making learning Maths a joyful experience.
  • Language teaching is functional - exposure to learning materials outside the Readers and Textbooks.
  • Science teaching totally activity based, interested children encouraged to take up minor projects.
